His First International Classroom

Mr. Kim Chansung is currently a graduate student majoring in Language Education at the Global Korean Department, Graduate School of Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (South Korea). Despite possessing a solid foundation in linguistic theory, he stepped out of his comfort zone to teach directly in a foreign country, a decision filled with challenges.

When seeking an ideal environment to begin his international education career, Mr. Kim chose HUFLIT’s Korean Language Department. This choice stemmed from the long-standing, strong cooperative relationship between the two universities, as well as the high appreciation for the professional quality of the teaching staff here.

The Gap Between Theory and Classroom Reality

Any beginning is accompanied by invisible pressures. Even with well-prepared lesson plans, Mr. Kim could not avoid the initial nervousness during his first few classes.

He shared that he encountered certain difficulties when the traditional teaching methods brought from Korea were not entirely compatible with the reality in Vietnam. He was completely surprised by how HUFLIT students approached language learning: modern, proactive, and highly agile in applying technology. This dynamic learning environment posed a new challenge, requiring the educator to flexibly adapt his teaching methods.

Overcoming Challenges Through Connection with Students

However, differences in learning culture did not deter the young educator, as he was never alone in this journey of adaptation.
All initial pressures were gradually relieved thanks to the efforts of HUFLIT students themselves. The moment when normally quiet students bravely spoke up in Korean to defend their personal opinions left a profound impression, helping Mr. Kim find his confidence and great inspiration.
